The Tenby Project is now part of the Periods Matter movement.

On June 17 volunteer Lauren Smith and Emily Hughes from Legacy in the Community went to Tesco in Pembroke Dock to meet with the store’s Community Champion Gill Elliott to collect a hamper filled with essential period products for the WCs in Augustus Place Community Hall.

As a Tesco Community Champion, Gill is passionate about supporting local initiatives that make a real difference. By working alongside community groups and organisations, she helps bring people together and provide support that has a positive impact. Her donation was both to support the Tenby Project and to help tackle period poverty within the local community.

Through community partnerships and local support, the Tenby Project works to raise awareness of period poverty and provide help where it is needed most.

The hamper aims to provide practical support for women and girls who may struggle to access essential hygiene products, helping to promote dignity, confidence and equality.

Lauren said: “We're are so proud to be part of the community period project for ladies in need.

“Thank you to Gill at Pembroke Dock Tesco for your help and support.

“I am very grateful that we could get together as one community to help combat period financial stress for women that need product protection.”

The hamper will be placed in the hall in Augustus Place, Tenby. Please help yourself to a product if in need.

Gill said: “Period poverty is something that can affect people in our communities, and nobody should have to worry about accessing essential hygiene products. I’m incredibly proud that Tesco Pembroke Dock has been able to support the Tenby Project with this hamper of period products and play a part in helping local people.”

The Tenby Project is a fantastic example of how communities, organisations and businesses can work together to make a meaningful difference.

Through Tesco Pembroke Dock’s community work, Gill continues to support local causes and projects that help strengthen the community and provide support to those who need it.
