A PARTY atmosphere prevailed as members of Carew WI gathered for their AGM. Almost a full attendance from the list of 33 - each member carrying their cutlery and crockery as the afternoon began with sitting down together to enjoy a celebratory, sumptuous lunch prepared by the committee.
The minutes of the AGM 2024 were read, sanctioned and signed. In a secret location, independent volunteer tellers were busily counting the votes for the Committee 2026. In the meantime members heard recollections from the treasurer, secretary and, of course, Madam President of Carew WI’s eventful 2025 fixture list - the standout being the visit to Gareth’s Kitchen in Lampeter organised by Bronwen.
While members perused the PFWI newsletter and dealt with the monthly business, the door to the inner sanctum opened to reveal the chief teller who requested admittance to present the results. A new committee has been formed.
President Edith was unanimously voted in for another year and tributes were paid to outgoing vice president Margaret for her years of unstinting service and also to Liz for her tireless devotion to her post as secretary as she hands on the baton.
Membership has grown since the last AGM and an invitation goes out to those women who wish to join and share in all the group’s endeavours in 2026.
A new year beckons; fresh faces have been voted on to ensure that Carew WI continues in its quest to remain an open and honest reflection of community life while always maintaining a healthy regard for important worldwide issues that affect us all.
