LOWER Landsker Trefoil members have had an enjoyable first few months of 2026 regardless of storms, wind and rain. Highlights include a delicious meal at Ronni’z to celebrate World Thinking Day, the birthdays of the late Lord and Lady Baden Powell and a day when members of the Girl Guide movement throughout the world joined together in celebration.
On March 4, members enjoyed a Welsh morning with Welsh cakes and Bara Brith, a fiendish quiz, poems and songs - and stories of life in Wales from long ago, courtesy of oldest member, Dorothy Lee, 96.
On March 21, several members travelled to Llanelli for the Trefoil Wales AGM, when the new Trefoil Award was presented to Barbara Pegg. This Welsh award is given to someone who goes above and beyond in her commitment to Trefoil. All agreed that Barbara was a very worthy recipient and it was particularly gratifying that she was the first member in Wales to be presented with it.
In April, members were joined by Guide and Ranger leader Rhian Morgan and two Rangers to welcome Kathy Gunner from Haverfordwest, the new Chief Commissioner of Guides Cymru. At this meeting, Nicole Evans retired as Chair of Pembrokeshire Trefoil and the baton was passed to well known local ex-Guider, Margaret Peake, with all best wishes.
Members still meet for the Wednesday walks, and five of them record the Tenby Observer for the blind as part of the Tenby Talking Newspaper charity. Members are, of course, always ready to support the local Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger Units.
Events in the pipeline include an overnight stay in Cardiff, and visits to Narberth, Skrinkle, Upton Castle, and Caldey Island. Trefoil is open to all ages, and is all about service, fun and friendship, and the members of Lower Landsker Guild certainly put this into practice.
