SPECSAVERS Haverfordwest is sponsoring the 2025 Mixed Fast5 Netball Tournament in support of Homeless Pembrokeshire, a local charity that provides crisis support, advice and emergency rough sleeping packs to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The store’s £400 donation has covered the cost of hosting the tournament at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village, ensuring every penny raised goes directly to the community donation-funded charity.
Retail director Wayne Jones says: “As a locally owned and run business, we’re committed to supporting our community and Homeless Pembrokeshire is a charity that continues to make a real difference.
“We’re proud to be involved in an event that brings people together while raising awareness of a challenge affecting more people in our community than many realise.”
The tournament, which raised more than £1,000 for Morgan's Army Children's Cancer Charity in 2024, was organised by Caroline Ross, the store’s locum optometrist.
Mrs Ross says: “This tournament is about more than sport. It’s a way to raise awareness of homelessness in our community and, thanks to the backing of local businesses like Specsavers Haverfordwest, raise vital funds for a charity providing frontline support.
“Fast5 netball is fast-paced, exciting and a great watch, so we’re encouraging everyone to come along, enjoy the action and cheer on the teams. It’s an opportunity for the whole community to rally behind our chosen charity and discover a fun twist to traditional netball.”
The tournament returns on Saturday, June 28, 1-5pm, with 10 teams set to compete in a series of high-energy matches. A raffle and other activities will also take place on the day.
Specsavers Haverfordwest is open seven days a week. To make eye health accessible to all, the store also offers home visits for those unable to leave their homes unaccompanied due to disability or illness.
