VILLAGE pubs are struggling everywhere due to many factors but a community pub in rural North Pembrokeshire has a dilemma on account of the fast approaching lambing season!
With the challenges of the National Insurance increase, ever-increasing running costs such as electricity and insurance, staff shortages, the cost of living impact, seeing people spending less on eating out, it is little wonder that village pubs are struggling.
BUT for in a village pub in North Pembrokeshire, it is the forthcoming lambing season that will see the pub needing additional support. From March 16, Wendy, the kitchen lead and cook, is taking time off to support the family farm with the annual lambing for three weeks. The community pub at Crymych, The Crymych Arms is therefore looking for a rota of support cooks as Wendy focusses to monitor the newborn lambs on her nearby farm.

The community pub at Crymych has a great following of locals and visitors. The members of the football club in the village use Crymych Arms as its clubhouse as well. The pub staff have developed an excellent range of pub food from Wednesdays to Sundays each week and now need to secure additional cooks with relevant food handling accreditation.
A full list of opening hours and the menu offer that needs to be prepared can be found on www.crymycharms.com .
The lambing season is an important part of any rural community, as is a welcoming warm village pub, and it is hoped that in Crymych both the lambing and pub kitchen will have adequate staffing this spring. The pub is appealing to anyone who can help with a cooking shift or two, to please contact the Pub Manager on 01239 831435 or email [email protected] .
