AT a recent meeting of Cosheston Community Council, councillors received Pembrokeshire County Council’s reply to concerns about parking near the crossroads in the village.

Cosheston councillors had agreed to ask Highways to provide yellow lines as, currently, vehicles wishing to turn left have to move to the far right of the road and this impedes traffic turning right off the hill.

County Council’s response is that the request will be added to their extensive list and monitored. When the request is looked at, if it is deemed necessary to implement parking restrictions, PCC will contact the Community Council prior to public consultation.

It was agreed for the Clerk to advise Highways this has been an area of concern for many years, and it is not the first request; with County Cllr Hodgson to be copied in for her assistance.

Following a request for a handrail to be installed at the entrance to Cosheston Village Hall, the Clerk has endeavoured to find out who owns the path leading up to the village hall, but no-one has a definitive answer.

Councillors agreed for the Clerk to apply to the Land Registry for a copy of the land under Community Council ownership. It was suggested the Village Hall Committee undertakes the same exercise.

Councillors N James and A Wilson, along with Mr G Allingham, have met with the Village Hall Committee to discuss solar panel provision. The committee will now undertake insurance of the panels and will obtain quotes for installing a battery bank.

Amongst correspondence was a concern raised by a resident about the salt bins being locked. Locking the bins has always been the practice, to avoid the salt being taken for other purposes. Councillors living near the salt bins have the code and always spread grit when necessary.
