SANDY Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity is celebrating a donation of over £2,300, thanks to the Haverfordwest community.

On May 13, the charity was invited to the Mayor’s Parlour, alongside the Paul Sartori Foundation, to receive a cheque as one of the chosen Charities of the Year for the 2025/26 mayoral year.

Together, both charities received a combined sum of £4,510 - raised through the tireless efforts of Mayor Cllr Roy Thomas and Mayoress Mrs Shirley Thomas, and the community of Haverfordwest.

“From the very beginning of their tenure, Roy and Shirley have gone above and beyond,” the charity enthused. “They’ve turned up, participated, championed and fundraised, not because they had to, but because they genuinely care about the causes they chose and the people those causes serve.

“For Sandy Bear, that means significantly better outcomes for the children, young people and their families that are, or have experienced a bereavement. This is often life-changing, and without support can mean a life of issues. The young people in your community thank you all

“To Roy, Shirley, and Haverfordwest Town Council - thank you. You’ve been incredible ambassadors for your town, and we are so grateful.”

And as one wonderful chapter closes, a new one begins. Sandy Bear has extended a very warm welcome to the incoming Mayor Councillor Randell Izaiah Thomas-Turner and Mayoress Councillor Dani Thomas-Turner as they begin their mayoral year, adding:

“We hope the strong relationship between Sandy Bear and Haverfordwest Town Council continues, and we look forward to what lies ahead together.”
