Pembrokeshire dog owners are being reminded the county is beautiful, not poo-tiful.

This comes after an increase in dog fouling being reported to Pembrokeshire County Council from members of the public.

Bagged dog faeces can be placed in all PCC litter bins yet problems still remain.

The authority is appealing for information to determine where dog fouling occurs to help find the culprits responsible for not picking up their dog’s mess.

A number of Dog Watch initiatives have been set up in the county that provide a visible deterrent to persistent offenders however, more help is needed to rid the county of a problem that blights communities.

Dog fouling is an offence and anyone seen allowing their dog to foul, may receive a Fixed Penalty Ticket which carries a fine of £75.

“The message is clear ‘clear up after your pets,’” says Pembrokeshire County Council cabinet member for the environment and Welsh Llanguage, Clr. Cris Tomos.

“Failing to clear up after your pets is lazy and irresponsible, he added.

“There is no excuse for it. Dog mess is unsightly and unhygienic and we need the public’s help to crack down on it.”

“We’re asking residents to bag it and bin it. Pembrokeshire is not a public toilet for dogs.”
