Following the tremendous success of the summer Open Studio at Ash Farm in August, Sian O’Doherty is looking forward to hosting another selection of designer makers for this year’s Christmas Open Studio on November 16 and 17.
As well as welcoming back vendors who have become favourites with regular visitors, Sian is pleased to introduce several new artisan producers this year.
“It’s really exciting to able to showcase local talent and craftsmanship to local people, as well as to visitors to the area. Our regional makers are exhibiting and selling their products across the country, at venues such as Tate Modern, and even internationally,” said Sian.
“I am proud to be included in this community of excellent makers exporting top quality artisan goods just as we did at the height of the welsh textile industry. It’s a great privilege for all of us to have this wealth and diversity of talent on our doorstep.”
Sian’s own business has gone from strength to strength in 2019. She has regularly exhibited at events across the UK, from high-profile craft festivals in the west country to the inaugural Welsh Alpaca Show in Carmarthenshire where she was proud to sponsor the Supreme Champion Huacaya class. Her own herd of alpacas at Ash Farm now numbers 30!
“This year has seen a big growth in the number of my designs using our own alpaca fibre as our yarns have started to come through the long process of development.
“It is so encouraging to see the great response I have had to the new collection and to know that the public increasingly value the terrific qualities of alpaca. Creating sustainable, local products that are beautiful and stylish as well as ethical has been really important to me for a long time.
“To be achieving that ambition with our alpaca range this year is incredibly satisfying. I’m looking forward to presenting these new designs at the Christmas Open Studio.”
Alongside stands selling a wide range of high-quality gifts, Paternoster Farm will once again be providing a selection of delicious foods to keep your festive shopping strength up and Absolute Events Bars will be on hand to quench your thirst. Entry to this enjoyable and inspiring event is free.
