Serendipity Ladies’ Choir has helped to raise almost £1,000 for a Narberth church’s restoration appeal.
Directed by Juliet Rossiter, the choir - which was formed three years ago and meets at the town’s Bloomfield Centre every Monday night, gave a varied programme ranging from toe-tapping, finger-clicking numbers to more moving music, culminating in the beautiful ‘Lord bless us and keep us’ by John Rutter.
Soloist Donna Jones delighted the large audience with her choice of songs, relating one of them to her family’s First World War experiences.
“We were invited to sing at a concert in St Andrew’s Church to help them raise money and it felt very appropriate to be able to help a church in our home town,” said choir secretary Irene Williams.
“It was a lovely space to sing in and we are thrilled to have helped the congregation raise so much money,” she added.
The concert raised a total of £906 for the restoration fund to the delight of vicar Reverend Martin Cox who thanked the choir, Juliet and Donna for a lovely evening of entertainment in support of the plans to restore the church building.
The evening was rounded off with refreshments provided by the ladies of the church.
The Church Restoration Project plans will be on view at a community ‘Open Day’ on Saturday June 15, between 10 am and 4 pm.
All are welcome to drop in to see the plans and discuss them.
