Tavernspite School pupils recently enjoyed an exciting and successful 'China Day' with the support of eight tutors from University of Wales, Trinity of Saint David, Carmarthen and organised through the Confucius Institute.

The day on February 17, commenced with a Lion Dance in the school hall, with all pupils enjoying the performance whilst appreciating the story regarding the Chinese New Year.

Workshops were co-ordinated and led by the tutors which entailed work based on the Chinese language, Chinese culture and traditions, Tai Chi, paper cutting and Chinese singing.

The project was supported and organised by Mr. Newsome, headteacher of Ysgol Dyffryn Taf.

The staff and pupils at Tavernspite are especially grateful for having this opportunity to experience Chinese learning and culture.
