Throughout the past six-and-a-half-years, the Friends of Narberth Museum's support for the museum has never waivered.

They have raised funds (and morale!) by providing a varied programme of talks and social events.

Last Wednesday, the speaker was Brian Owen, of Templeton, who gave an informative and amusing insight into the life of a village blacksmith.

He brought along a display of tools and items that illustrated the history of blacksmithing and his own long involvement in the trade.

The audience was fascinated to learn of the accolades and awards Brian had amassed during his long career.

After the talk, a cheque for £2,350 was presented by the Friends to the Museum.

Chris Stephens had launched the 2010 Challenge at the beginning of the year to mark the museum's 21st anniversary and his target was soon reached thanks to the generosity of the Friends who were invited to contribute.

Curator, Pauline Griffiths gratefully acknowledged Chris's efforts in raising this money which will be added to the museum's restoration fund.

The 2010 Challenge appeal is now being extended to the wider community.

The museum will be inviting donations from everyone who would like to help restore the Bonded Stores as the collection's new home.

All the money raised will go to match the £586,500 awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund in March.
