The Mayor of Tenby has praised those who took part in the first TenFoot charity swim from Tenby to Saundersfoot.
The inaugural event saw 175 swimmers take on the 5K endurance challenge from Tenby’s North Beach to Saundersfoot beach on Saturday morning, with the money raised donated to the nominated charities - The Rory Rogers Fund and Bloodwise.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, told her colleagues that it was a ‘superb event’ and congratulated all those who took part, after she had been invited along to open the swim and the medal presentation ceremony alongside the chairman of Saundersfoot Community Council, Clr. Anthony Mattick.
“It seemed to be a very hard and strenuous swim and I congratulate the organisers and all those that took part.
“Well done also to former Tenby town councillor, Hayden Johns, who came fourth out of 175 swimmers.
“I look forward to next year’s TenFoot swim and hopefully this event will just grow and grow,” she added.
