Several local, national and international charities have recently received generous donations from St. Mary’s Church, in order to further their vital work in a mixture of support organisations and research projects.

Each financial year St. Mary’s Church makes regular donations to many charitable organisations, along with our constant and regular support of Christian Aid. Over and above these gifts, further donations are made following specific fund-raising events and collections.

Ongoing support is given to charities by The Handbell Ringers, Mothers’ Union, the Soupermen, Sunday Club and numerous other church groups.

At the Eucharist service on Sunday morning, our charities secretary, Rector’s warden, Nicole Evans, welcomed representatives from a range of charitable organisations. Nicole spoke with warmth and enthusiasm about the commitment and responsibility church members have to supporting the important work which these charities undertake.

Presentations of substantial gifts were made by our Rector, Canon Andrew Grace. Unfortunately not all of the recipient groups were able to send a person to receive their cheques and so these will be forwarded to them.

Canon Andrew then led prayers and asked for God’s blessing both on the work of these magnificent charities and on the individuals whose lives are enhanced through the support they receive.

This year, gifts are being made to British Red Cross, SNAP Pembrokeshire, Tenby Scout and Guide Hall, Pembrokeshire MIND, Tenby Sea Cadets, Tenby Air Cadets, Friends of the Community, Alzheimer’s Society and Tenby Salvation Army. Tenby Church in Wales Primary School will be presented with a donation within the coming weeks.
