Narberth staged its annual Bake for Heroes colossal cake sale on Saturday.
“We had a good day and banked £2,700 from the day,” said organiser Sally Amoore from Llanddewi Velfrey, who has raised around £37,000 for H4H by selling cakes over the past eight years.
Her son, Captain James Amoore, now 32, was seriously injured in Helmand province in Afghanistan after stepping on a Taliban mine in 2009.
James, a platoon commander with 2nd Battalion The Rifles, spent four months in hospital, undergoing 15 operations.
With the prospect of more treatment ahead of him, Sally has pledged to do all she can to raise money for H4H.
“I’m not absolutely sure of the final tally as we still have donations coming, but it was down on last year, but still we are very pleased with the result,” said Sally.
She continued: “The weather was lovely which always helps. The army gave their cheerful support as usual and helpfully dressed up as the wounded bear and walked the streets promoting the cakes.
“Vicky Price, Miss Pembrokeshire, very kindly helped out on the stall and the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Ruth Platt, attended the sale in the morning.
“We were thrilled with all the baking donations from everyone and want to thank everyone for their fantastic support.
“As usual, all our helpers gave their all with pricing and packaging and selling. Another great colossal cake sale and now looking forward to next year.”
