A ‘casting call’ for budding thespians who want to be part of an event to celebrate the centenary of children’s author Roald Dahl is to be held next week.
As 2016 marks 100 years since the storyteller’s birth in Cardiff, amateur dramatics group, the ‘Eastend Flyover Company’, who are based in Pembroke, are pushing forward with their plans to hold festivities in Tenby over the weekend of September 9, 10 and 11, with the central theme of the performance piece to be ‘The BFG’ story, featuring a nine-foot puppet that will take to the streets of the resort, followed by an audience.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, told members that he’d met up with the organisers again recently for an update on the planned event.
“The scripts are being written and now the company will be holding a casting call in the De Valence on Wednesday, June 29, at 8 pm,” he said.
“They are encouraging community groups and dance groups to come along that want to get involved. The main cast of the production will be made up of actors from the East End Flyover group.
“They don’t want children to attend the casting call as such, as there are limited child parts, but they have said that any youngsters who want to get involved can pass on their interest to the town council,” he added.
