The next steps to bring cashless car parking and new waste vehicles to Pembrokeshire were signed off by the cabinet member responsible.

As part of Pembrokeshire County Council’s scheme of delegation some decisions can be approved by the councillor, after discussion with officers, in charge of area.

Clr. Phil Baker, cabinet member for planning and infrastructure. has signed off three decisions this week (February 27).

Tenders are now being invited for the provision of software to enable a ‘Payment Service Provider (PSP)’ to make car park pay and display machines ‘cashless’.

This will enable users to use their bank cards to make a payment.

Clr. Baker has also signed off on the procurement process for new waste collection vehicles.

Tenders for the purchase of seven open back refuse collection vans are required along with two absorbent hygiene products collection vehicles.

These will be evaluated and the final decision taken by the director of community services.

The two hygiene collection vans will be funded from capital funds while a Welsh Government grant and a combination of reserves – vehicle replacement and recycling – will be used for the seven bin vans.
