With this week marking the 100th anniversary of the Tenby carnival, to kick start the celebrations Tenby Fire Station staged a special pop-up screening of the film Backdraft.
The firefighting movie starring Kurt Russell and Robert De Niro was shown along with an episode of London’s Burning that was filmed in Tenby.
The station itself for the night was decked out in an authentic fire service theme, with historic uniforms and equipment on display.
Community fire safety officer, Lee Simmons explained: “The film is historical and nostalgic, and something authentically linked to a fire station that we thought might be different to offer the community during the carnival week’s centenary.”
Additionally the event was seen a chance for the Fire Brigade to give something back to the local community, something that Lee was keen to stress.
“They’ve been supporting us for the past 100 years.
“With the new book ‘100 Years of Tenby Carnival’ we are giving a look back through the event and what we’ve done over the past number of years,” he added.
All proceeds from the event went towards the Firefighters Charity.
