Sir,

Miss E.deN Clifton, at the time of her death (~1950), was living in Penally. Her house and contents were bequeathed to my grandfather. However, the house and contents were sold as my grandparents had their own property in Penally - they lived in one of the nearby Kenystyle bungalows.

Among the contents was a Colt Dragoon Revolver, dated about 1850-51, which came into my possession. Unfortunately my grandfather himself died not long after, so I was unable to obtain any of the history of this revolver. I am keen to learn more about Miss Clifton, and how she came to be in possession of this revolver.

Just by way of speculation, Miss Clifton’s father could have been in his 20s or 30s when the revolver was manufactured, so it could have belonged to him. Where did he serve? In which regiment, etc.?

I would be grateful if anyone with good historical knowledge of Penally in the first half of the 20th Century, can provide any information.
