The choir have been very busy lately learning new material for their concerts in 2009, with the strong possibility of recording another CD. This follows on from their last successful CD of 2006 which celebrated over 100 years of singing in the area.

Taking time out from learning their new repertoire they have sung in various venues throughout South Pembrokeshire and West Carmarthenshire.

On Friday, October 10, the choir supported local cancer research by singing at Bethesda Baptist Chapel, Narberth, along with the famous Welsh tenor, Trebor Edwards. Trebor always attracts a big following in Pembrokeshire and this concert was no exception.

On Thursday, November 13, they helped the vicar and deacons of Llandowror Church to make some money towards a new roof for this beautiful building. As always, the choir enjoyed the beautiful acoustics on offer in the church.

Peter Totterdale, originally from St. Clears, was due to be the solo artist, but due to his ill health, Clive 'the bus' Edwards and their talented accompanist Hefina sang instead.

On Thursday, November 20, they visited Ridgeway Home in Llawhaden to entertain the ladies and gentlemen there, and on Friday, November 28, they sang in the hall of Llanddewi Velfrey, along with Jodie Warlow, to help raise funds for Paul Sartori. Compere for this concert was Clive, who also sang during the concert.

During the next few weeks before Christmas, the choir will be singing in Sunnybank Home for the Elderly in Narberth on December 11, Llanfallteg Hall on December 13 and, to complete their busy year, they will entertain the ladies and gentlemen of Bleanmarlais Home, Narberth, on December 18.

The choir has also recently received some excellent news which has greatly encouraged its members. Dai Jones, of Cefn Gwlad on S4C, the well-known TV presenter, has agreed to become president of the choir and are all keeping their fingers crossed he can attend the annual concert in April of 2009.

Rehearsals begin again in the Memorial Hall, Whitland, on Thursday, January 8, at 7.30 pm. Anyone wishing to attend a rehearsal can make contact with the secretary, Stan Phillips, on 01994 240053, or visit the choir's website for information and diary of events for 2009.
