Vision Aid Overseas
The photograph shows the third delivery of old unwanted spectacles being handed over to Paul Skoczek (Dispensing Director at Specsavers, Haverfordwest) by Saundersfoot Rotarian President Brian Jenkins.
The glasses are sent from Specsavers at Haverfordwest to a centre in Cardiff where they are inspected and sorted into what can be re-used and the remainder are sold for scrap. There is no waste as the money raiseed from scrap also goes to support the charity ‘Vision Aid Overseas’.
This delivery brings the total to about 500 spectacles collected recently by the Saundersfoot Rotary Club which in turn is supported by The Regency Hall who are happy to act as a collecting centre. Please continue to bring more as the charity is ongoing !
Mobility Walk
Saundersfoot Rotary Club were pleased to support and take part in a recent walk organised by Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (P.A.V.S.) between 10 and 12 am.
The walk started at Coppet Hall and headed through the tunnels towards Wisemans Bridge. This was the first of a series of walks to be arranged during the coming months.
One lady, 93 years young, used a walking frame and although she and her helpers turned back at the halfway point she said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience of walking by the seaside path and taking in the oustanding Pembrokeshire coastline views.
On the way back she commented how wonderful it was to see families with young children sitting, playing on the sands and paddling in the water.
The walk ended with the group of walkers and helpers enjoying a cuppa in the Regency Hall discussing the pleasures of the day.
The photograph shows a small part of the group resting and posing with Monkstone Point and Saundersfoot just visible in the background.
Year 6 Dictionary Presentations
These photographs are from our recent presentations of Illustrated English Dictionaries to Year 6 pupils at Sageston, St Oswalds, Saundersfoot and Stepaside Schools. We hope you will find them useful in your future studies and we all at Saundersfoot Rotary wish you all the best with your future education and chosen careers.
Annual Pig Roast
July 26, saw another of Saundersfoot Rotary’s ever popular Pig Roast and Duck Race held on the decking at Saundersfoot Harbour.
This annual event is a guranteed crowd pleaser with members providing a fabulous Pig Roast and burgers but there were several charity stalls as well as a chance to win Pudsey Bear!
The Duck Race was dogged by the wind and mud but this didn’t deter our intrepid ’Wet Side’ team from making sure there were the three placed Ducks and the remaining 450 or so were all rescued safely!
Thanks to Butch, Whally and Eva for the musical entertainment.
