If that’s not enough physical excursion for you then Ironman Wales is on the following day, starting with a 2.4-mile swim from Tenby’s North Beach.

This is followed by a 1km run through the town to transition, the athletes will then head off on a 112-mile bike ride through the stunning Pembrokeshire scenery which includes the iconic spectator hot spot of St. Brides over looking Saundersfoot Harbour, where support never fails to spur the athletes to the top of this leg-bursting climb.

This is part of what is know as the three sisters or more specific to this climb as the Hill of pain!

The following weekend puts Saundersfoot Harbour at the centre of activities once again, as it will be welcoming over 60 vintage and classic motorcycles and three-wheelers.

This will be the 53rd annual Saundersfoot Run hosted by the Vintage Motorcycle Club’s West South Wales section.

On Saturday, September 15, at 7 pm, to help celebrate the completion and opening of the National Events Deck at Saundersfoot, The Wales International Coastal Centre present their inaugural event, Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing ‘Proms on the Harbour Deck’

They will be performing a variety of music, including some from their most popular concerts of the season, ‘A Night at the Movies.’ This, together with the added celebration of ‘Year of the Sea’ will make to be a fantastic night. Allan Grayson- Jones, Musical Director said: “We hope this selection proves equally popular with lots of film titles we’ve never performed before. It really is a concert for the whole family from Jurassic World to Mary Poppins!”

Bradley Davies added: “From A Night at the Movies, to A Night at the Proms with a programme of some of the most stirring and rousing music – much of which has been performed at the famous Last Night at the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, this will be quite a night to mark the opening of the National Events Deck here in Saundersfoot.

2018 is also the centenary of the end of World War I, and the performance will also include a medley of popular tunes sung by the troops in the trenches and you may well be invited to sing along with the orchestra!”

This is a seated and ticket event with the deck being opened at 6 and the performance starting at 7.

Tickets are still available (at time of going to press) from the Harbour Office and local retail outlets at £17.50 but there are only a limited number available.
