A local business that provides water safety consultation and management services to the UK events industry, as well as training lifeguards across Wales, has been working with an Oman-based school to deliver lifesaving training to students.

Water Safety Europe was approached by staff at the Oman school this summer and asked to advise them in lifesaving training for their GCSE sports students. The project teaches students core water safety skills, as well as personal survival and rescue techniques, in a bid to educate them of the dangers of the aquatic environment while giving them practical water skills.

“We were contacted by a local woman who teaches sport in the Oman-based school asking for assistance in modernising the course, helping to make it more relevant and in line with modern changes in lifesaving education” said Water Safety Europe’s Angelo Fecci.

In order to update existing skills and generate additional ones taught to the young people in the Middle East, the company has sent out a number of learning resources which will enhance the training given to pupils. Furthermore, plans are in place to send one of the company’s lifeguard trainers out to visit the school in Oman. In-depth lifesaving training will be provided to teaching staff in order to further develop their existing course.
