Sir, To many, the Brynhir fields are merely empty spaces, or places to walk the dog! But to so many locals and holidaymakers, they are so much more! Now, numerous ancient trees and hedgerows will be felled and the wildlife that lives in these fields gone forever.

Surely we are custodians of our lands and need to act now to save them. How long did it take for the danger of plastics to hit home! Everything starts with small steps.

So many counties are acting now to prevent the loss of their open areas and native wildlife, but our local and town council appear to applaud it!

Social housing is badly needed, but I think we are all aware that is unlikely to happen in Tenby. Prices will never be affordable and those homes will be few - Pembrokeshire County Council will want a return on the £4 million and it won’t be in affordable or social housing!

So expensive houses will be built and sold. Most to holiday or second homes, and some to rent back to locals!

Second homes, if let for a minimum of 20 weeks a year, pay no Council Tax! So with so many second homes in Tenby, it’s the locals who support the council! How can this be fair?

Why hasn’t there been a meeting called for local people to voice their opinions, as happened in Saundersfoot recently. We need to look carefully at those who represent us on council... as who is protecting our well-being, and who is just gaining profit.

Sandra Williams,

Tenby.
