Plans to revamp the skate park at Tenby’s Jubilee Play Park received a boost this week when the fundraising committee were presented with a cheque for £250 from Tenby Civic Society.

Civic Society chairman, Mr. Tudor Thomas told the monthly meeting of the Tenby Jubilee Play and Skate Park Association that the Civic Society had been delighted to support the construction of the original skate park and were equally delighted to support the plans to revamp and extend it.

The Association is working with Tenby Town Council to redesign and extend the skate park, which opened six years ago.

Presently at the design stage, the Association officially launched its campaign to help raise some of the projected £150,000 costs at Tenby Firefighters’ Carnival in August.

Speaking at the Association meeting on Monday evening chair, Christine Brown thanked Jason and Dai, from the Underground Surf and Skate Shop, Tenby for generously designing and supplying the fundraisers with T-shirts for the carnival.

She also thanked Rhys Thomas and Tenby Firefighters, for allowing the float to enter the carnival, Frank for the loan of the trailer and Paul Rapi for towing it.

Special thanks went to all parents, children and members of the committee who took part.

The meeting heard that committee members had met with Mr. Adam Williams, of Ramps Skate Park in Llanelli to discuss possible designs and fundraising ideas.

The meeting also thanked junior committee members Liam, Cas and Beau for organising cleaning of the skate park on Saturday mornings.

The next meeting of the Association will take place at 6 pm on Monday, October 1 in the De Valence.
