This week’s Blast from the Past has kindly been provided by Jen Richards, of Upper Hill Park, Tenby.
In an accompanying letter she says: “I was looking through an old photo album when I came across this photo, which features pupils from the County Primary School (where St. Teilo’s is currently), some of whom are sadly no longer with us.
“I can remember most of the names, but perhaps your readers will be able to fill in those missing, or correct any errors I have made. (It’s a long time ago!). I am listing maiden names and include married names that I know of. I am third from the right in the bottom row. The names are as follows:
Top row: Jacqueline Cook; ? ; Andrée Thomas; Pauline Webster; Ann Elms (née Taylor); Jennifer Deverson (née Miller); Margaret Skyrme (née Carew); Jennifer Webb (née Froggatt); Anne Warlow; Gloria Griffiths; ? ; Lesley Cotterill; Pat Shand.
Middle: Kathleen Thomas; Lena Williams; Cathleen Thomas; Caroline Cole; Geraldine Stace; Gwendoline Smith; Mary Harries; Carol Howells (née Bodill); Gillian Edwards (née Smith); the Rogers twins, Ruth and Pat; Shirley Griffiths; Marjorie Hallett (née Lloyd-Jones); Pauline Watkins.

“A year or so ago, I also wrote a little poem, spurred on by my childhood memories. I hope you think that it is quite apt for this photograph.
The Infants’ Class
I see them often round me now,
those who shared the infants’ class with me;
those who, grey like me,
are fit and strong and full of life;
or those who, pain-racked,
tear-stained, weary worn,
have only memories to spur them on.
How we laughed and shouted,
screamed with sheer delight,
greeting fearless days with constant hope.
Now for many, broken dreams and memories remain
and those without their loved ones struggle on.
I am blessed, my husband still with me,
tower of strength through years of joy and pain.
Now that carefree days of childhood are long gone,
there is still so much that I can do.
While I live and breathe I have great hope,
remembering those who shared that time with me.
Jen Richards (neé Dale)
