Community spirit triumphed over weather conditions to save Saundersfoot's Big Bang Weekend from becoming a damp squib.
The event's Saturday night fireworks display was re-scheduled to Sunday, thanks to the co-operation of operators of the fireworks and funfair and the village's harbour car park.
The weekend was organised by Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, whose chairman, Phil Odley, said: "Although we didn't get the thousands of people we had hoped for, the fact that the shops, pubs and restaurants were busy on Saturday went a long way to meeting our target of bringing more people into the village out of season.
"We could so easily have cancelled the fireworks altogether, but thanks to everyone's help, we were able to stage a stunning display on the Sunday evening, to the appreciation of those who braved the elements to watch.
"This was possible due to the flexibility and co-operation of Mike Davies and the boys on the harbour, with Henry Studt's funfair and Galaxy Fireworks agreeing to stay an extra day.
"And none of this would have taken place without the tireless help and support of Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism members, who braved the rain and howling gales to help with marshalling and bucket collections.
"The people who came down in cars showed their appreciation by filling our buckets and tooting their horns at the end of the display.
"The community spirit was never more apparent, and what's more, all the entertainment providers will be coming back again next year for our 2014 Big Bang Weekend."
• The Chamber is now busy with preparations for its annual St. Nicholas Market, which will take place on Saundersfoot harbour car park on December 6, 7 and 8.
The event will feature around 50 stalls selling food, drink and seasonal goodies, together with chef demonstrations, Santa's Grotto and live music.
