Sir,
I wish to add another view to that of last week’s letter from a second home owner, the view of a local living all year round in Tenby. We think that second homers don’t spend as much as us - how can they when we live here 52 weeks of the year and Tenby is our hub for meeting, eating and buying. We support the library, museum, the surgery, The Avenue and all the community functions thereby keeping them going so the council doesn’t take them away. If more ‘locals’ were able to buy local homes it would be even better community-wise.
In the Merlins Estate, out of 32 homes, approximately half are second homes only used a few weeks a year. Doubling the rates for second homes is a great idea. The letters from PCC in consultation about it should be sent to locals, as well second homers to have all sides covered.
