Matters discussed at the October meeting of Amroth Community Council included the following:
The chair, Clr. R. Harries, welcomed our new councillor, Clr. Stephen Phillips to his first council meeting. He then introduced Community PCSO Hannah Francis who spoke about setting up a police forum in the community council area.
PCSO Francis told council that there were currently two PCSOs based in Saundersfoot and they offered surgeries in the local communities. It could be in any place that was suitable for people to access to discuss any local problems. Councillors agreed unanimously that it would be helpful to have surgeries in both Amroth and Llanteg bimonthly.
PCSO Francis would circulate all residents about the programme venue and dates for 2013. She also explained that there would be a new card issued to join the Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
Clr. Bernard Lawrence said he would volunteer to be the co-ordinator for Pleasant Valley and Stepaside. Co-ordinators for the remaining areas in the community council area were sought.
If you are interested in being your local co-ordinator for the new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, you can register your interest by 'phoning 101, and asking for PCSO Moffet or PCSO Frances on extension 8086 or 8069.
Amroth Community Council covers the areas - Amroth, Wiseman's Bridge, Stepaside, Summerhill, Pleasant Valley and Llanteg.
Clr. Brinsden told the PCSO that there had been several complaints of quad bikes using the main road through the Llanteg area. PCSO Francis said she would follow this up.
Outstanding issues to be addressed
Knotweed at Parish Hall, Summerhill - this was causing a terrible mess and was still blowing everywhere. Urgent action would now be taken.
Missing sign in Pleasant Valley - this had still not been replaced, however, it was believed to be on the work schedule.
Dips in road between Norton Cottage and Woodside and over the hill in Amroth - some work had been done, but the hole needed to be cut out and redone properly. The heavy rain and wind had made the subsidence worse. A further letter would be sent.
Roots in road at Wiseman's Bridge - this had not been done and councillors were concerned that it would lead to a nasty accident. Urgent action was needed. A PCC officer would be asked to visit as soon as possible.
Tidying up the area in road in front of the plinth at Amroth - this was now done and could be taken off the agenda. However, a large hole had appeared as a result of the heavy seas at the end of the promenade in Amroth. This required urgent action. Clr. Brinsden would address this urgently as it was a health and safety issue.
County Councillor Brinsden's report
Clr. Brinsden said he had attended a briefing of the Wales Regional Electoral Boundaries Commission. They were hoping to achieve - by 2017 - every ward being roughly the same size of population - 1,700 or thereabouts. That would do away with seven wards in Pembrokeshire and could have an effect on community councils because of course those areas will also change. It would be up for consultation in the next seven or eight weeks. The scrutiny committee was currently looking into dog fouling and would like local communities to assist the dog wardens in identifying owners who allow their dogs to foul the beaches and paths in the area. Where possible, local residents should point out to such owners when they fail to clean up after their dog that they can be reported and fined. Car registration numbers of owners or photographs of offenders would be helpful.
Llanteg Community Association
December 30 - winter walk, Pembroke Mill Ponds and Holyland Woods; carol service to be held on December 2 or 9.
Amroth and District Community Association
We are awaiting a second quotation for the play area. The Community Action Plan Review process was now finished. All the community was invited to attend the initial review of the old plan and the drafting of the new one. This was now finalised and agreed and would be circulated to the community shortly.
Planning
The Meadow, Llanteg - erection of new dwelling (no objections); Heatherland, Llanteg - extensions, alterations and repairs (no objections); Right of Way - Crofty Nursery (no objections); land north of Fern Villa, Llanteg - erection of two dwellings (no objections); 7 Morgans Way, Summerhill - extension to dwelling to form annexe (permission granted); Tall Timbers, Llanteg - extensions and alterations (permission granted); 41 Llanteg Park, Llanteg - extension to rear (permission granted); plot adjacent to Longstone Manse, Ludchurch - erection of dwelling (plans sent for).
Discussion arose concerning the potential development of a wind turbine site on land south of Crosslands. It was pointed out to council that as yet, no PCC planning application had been received on this matter. There was some communication received at the end of August from the company Savills, of Wimborne, who were acting for the landowner of this proposed development. This was a pre-application and consultation strategy letter which outlined the possible proposal. The letter made no suggestion of a formal planning application being imminent. A strong response was made to Savills in response by the community council stressing its significant concerns and objections about this proposed development. An urgent letter had now been sent to PCC planning department from the community council following the announcement on their website of a formal planning application having been made. The community council would seek an extension of the consultation period in order that a full, detailed and widely represented response can be made.
Other Matters
A brown tourist sign has been requested on A477 by turn-off at Pen-y-Bont to direct visitors to the facilities available in Amroth and surrounding area - beach, coffee, food, accommodation - all year round. Councillors agreed that this would be good for the area and could be sought.
It was reported that the road between Llanteg and Tavernspite was in bad state of repair. Clr. Brinsden had this matter in hand. It was also stressed that there was considerable litter refuse on the A477 all the way from the county boundary to Stepaside, where the verges have been cut and the debris left behind.
It was reported that there was a patch of overgrown weeds and bramble around the bus shelter in Stepaside. This has been reported many times before and nothing has been done. Council would try again.
The salt bin requested and paid for to be positioned on Amroth hill had been awaited now for many months. It would be chased up again.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 22, at Llanteg Village Hall.
