Tavernspite School has once again been awarded the Fairtrade Flag from the Fairtrade Foundation in recognition of its work in raising awareness of Fairtrade issues and promoting Fairtrade products.
Angela Burns AM joined the school in celebrating its success in gaining Fairtrade status for the second year running.
Mrs. Burns addressed the children, staff and members of the PTA in an assembly and spoke of the importance of their achievement.
The PTA supported the event by organising a homemade, Fairtrade cake and coffee morning at the school in aid of Macmillan nurses.
The whole school and the wider community have been a huge support to the campaign.
The Co-op store, of Carmarthen, kindly donated Fairtrade chocolates to be raffled at the coffee morning and the PTA worked tirelessly to bake delicious cakes using Fairtrade ingredients.
The Tavernspite Fairtrade working party is now busy planning ideas for the year ahead.
The school has recently linked with a school in Zanzibar and intends to work on projects involving Fairtrade issues with their new friends.
