A former Mayor of Narberth is demanding action after a local resident has been flooded for a second time because of drainage problems.
"The lady concerned in Springfield Park has lost a lot of possessions because she has been flooded again," Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees told her council colleagues at their monthly meeting on Tuesday evening.
"In 30 years, I have never heard of flooding at this location, but ever since the properties were built at Redstone Court there have been problems," she continued.
"In the wet weather, Bushes Lane is also like a river. I have never seen anything like it. The county council have put bags of rubble and sand right across the footpath, but if they are not careful, someone is going to trip over them and break their neck, leaving them liable.
"Everytime it rains, the lady concerned must have her heart in her mouth. This is a serious situation and has got to be seen to.
"We have told the county council about it, but they have done nothing, only put out the bags of sand and rubble and men at work signs."
Clr. Mrs. Rees suggested the county council cut a gulley the full width of the footpath in Bushes Lane to take the drainage.
"I was knee-high in muddy water when I went and looked at the problem. I am not exaggerating. The storm drain in Springfield Park just cannot cope and hence the water becomes a torrent down Bushes Lane."
Clr. Mrs. Rees called on the council to write a 'strong letter' to the local authority asking for them to look at the matter urgently. Members agreed.
