A Pembroke Dock woman has been fined in court after pleading guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis.
Fifty-four-year-old Sylvia Mary Williams, of Wellington Street, admitted the charge when she appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers attended the woman’s house on October 10, and found various items, such as snap bags, tins and a grinder containing traces of cannabis.
“One tin had a mix of tobacco and cannabis stalks. The defendant was not arrested at the scene, but voluntarily attended a police interview. She fully admitted that the cannabis was hers, which she smoked on a recreational basis,” explained Mr. Pritchard-Jones.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that the charge referred to a ‘quantity’ of cannabis, as it was only traces of the drug they were talking about.
“Sometimes she used the stalks to make tea as it was good for pain relief.
“One of the tins was so old, that she didn’t even know where it was, and located in a place during the search that she had totally forgotten about,” he added.
Magistrates fined Mrs. Williams £80 for the offence and ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
