TENBY has expressed heartfelt congratulations to Phil Lees-Griffiths on his retirement after an incredible 37 years of dedicated service with Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

On behalf of the people of Tenby, the Mayor, Cllr Dai Morgan, said:

“We celebrate not just the retirement of a firefighter, but the remarkable career of a man who has devoted 37 years to protecting the people of Tenby and our surrounding communities. Phil has always put others before himself. Through every emergency, every call-out, and every challenge, he has served with courage, professionalism, humility and compassion. His commitment to our town has been unwavering, and generations of residents have benefited from his dedication and selfless service.

“Behind every firefighter is a family who have shared in the sacrifices that public service demands, and today we also thank Phill's loved ones for the support they have given throughout his distinguished career.

“As Phil begins a well-earned retirement, we also take this opportunity to recognise every member of our emergency services… Tenby is proud of each and every one of you.

“Phil, on behalf of Tenby Town Council and the people of our town, thank you for your extraordinary service. Your legacy will live on through the lives you have touched, the colleagues you have inspired, and the community you have helped keep safe for nearly four decades.

“We wish you and your family a long, healthy and happy retirement. You have truly earned it. Thank you for always putting the people of Tenby first."

June 30 was Phil’s last day as an operational Firefighter at Tenby. He said: “I have many lasting happy memories to look back on working with some great people across all stations in Mid & West Wales Fire Rescue Service. Thank you to everyone who came last night to help me celebrate retiring after 37 years.”
