Two teenagers from Birmingham who stole two mobile phones to the value of £1,998 from a store in Pembroke have been remitted to the Birmingham and Solihull Youth Court for a hearing next month after admitting the thefts.

The two males aged thirteen and seventeen who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to the charges.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that the theft occurred on January at the Tesco store in Pembroke Dock.

“The two young boys entered the store together and went to the mobile phone section and stole two Apple iPhones that were there on display. It just goes to show how stupid some people are, as these were demonstration phones,” explained Mr. Davies.

“They took them off the display, the alarm was activated, and they then ran out of the store. It was all captured on CCTV.

“This was a high value theft. The two defendants have no previous convictions recorded against them to date,” he added.

The teenagers’ solicitor said that it might be prudent to send the matter to Birmingham Magistrates Court for sentencing as the defendants would probably require some form of supervision from the youth offending team in that area if they were handed a community order.

Magistrates ordered the defendants to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on February 27 for a further hearing.
