A Stepaside man who drove his car after visiting a local pub has been handed a driving ban after appearing in court.
Fifty-two-year-old Andrew Christopher Gunn, of Summerhill, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, after being charged with driving his Proton Jumbuck after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that police officers initially became aware of Mr. Gunn’s vehicle in the car park of Wiseman’s Bridge Inn, shortly before 11 pm on November 8 of last year.
Officers approached him due to his poor standard of driving and when they spoke to him, they were aware he had been drinking.
Mr. Gunn provided a sample that gave a reading of 254 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb said that Mr. Gunn had been to the pub and thought he would be ok to drive.
“He drove a short distance up the hill to his sister’s in Summerhill where he was staying, and officer’s stopped him there. Mr. Gunn was compliant throughout.
“He is employed by the holiday site at the Stepaside Heritage Park and it’s not that bigger distance so he will be able to cycle to work,” added Mr. Webb.
Magistrates disqualified Mr. Gunn from driving for 18 months and fined him £400 for the offence.
He was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £40 victim surcharge.
