There were dramatic rescue scenes at a South Pembrokeshire beauty spot on Bank Holiday Monday.
A 32-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after falling on her back whilst climbing near St. Govan’s Chapel.
Crowds gathered on the headland watching the lunchtime rescue involving coastguards, ambulance service and a Sea King helicopter.
The alarm was raised shortly before 12.30 pm after the woman fell between three and four metres onto rocks.
The Wales Air Ambulance and rescue helicopter 169 were dispatched to the scene, along with an ambulance from Pembroke Dock, and St. Govan’s and Tenby coastguard rescue teams.
The safest and easiest way to evacuate the casualty was to winch her up into the rescue helicopter which then transferred her to Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
