A Pembroke Dock pensioner is set to appear at Swansea Crown Court next month after being charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Sixty-five-year-old Robert Royan, of Commercial Row, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to face the charge, with prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones inviting magistrates to send the matter to Crown Court and remand the defendant in custody, for fear that there would be a significant risk that he would commit further offences; for his own protection, and as he’d failed to surrender.
Mr. Pritchard-Jones explained that the defendant had a long history of committing serious offences to his name, including several prison terms, one of which was for arson with endangering life.
Magistrates agreed to remand the defendant in custody and sent the matter to Swansea Crown Court, where Mr. Royan will next appear on August 3.
