A Milford Haven woman has been warned that she could face a spell in prison if she breaks the terms of a suspended sentence again.

Forty-three-year-old Sarah Solomon, of Haven Drive, Hakin, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of possessing 13.1 grammes of amphetamine, on February 2.

Magistrates heard how Miss Solomon was in breach of a 12-week suspended sentence order issued back in August for drink driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that the drugs were recovered by police officers following the execution of a drugs warrant at the defendant’s address.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client had battled with drugs and alcohol problems for a long period of time and had unfortunately lapsed back into troubles towards the end of last year.

“Since last August she has been working with DDAS, the Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service, and to be fair has taken it upon herself to sort her problems out.

“She lapsed into drugs again to get over the loss of her mother last year. Sending her to prison won’t sort any of her problems out, it will probably set her backwards. Miss Solomon is not a prolific offender, but obviously has her demons that need to be sorted,” added Mr. Webb.

Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for the offence and ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

A further six months was added on to Miss Solomon’s suspended sentence for the breach, and she was ordered to undertake a 20-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement with the probation service.
