A Pembroke Dock teenager who was found crying by police officers at the scene of an accident after pranging his car on the way home from the pub has admitted a drink driving offence.

Eighteen-year-old Adam Francis Asparassa of Lavinia Drive appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to a charge of driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

The offence took place on October 10 on Commons Road in Pembroke after 10 pm, prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court.

Police officers were told of a road traffic collision that had occurred, and when they arrived at the scene, they saw Mr. Asparassa’s VW Polo car which had external front damage.

The defendant had his hands on his head and was crying.

Magistrates heard that the Mr. Asparassa had been on his way home from the pub after drinking three and a half pints of Stella.

After a roadside breath test proved positive, the defendant was arrested and gave a reading of 53 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath at the police station.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb said his client thought that he would he would be fine to drive home, when he wasn’t.

Mr. Webb said that immaturity may have come into the equation and that his client had learnt his lesson.

Magistrates handed Mr. Asparassa a 12-month driving ban and a £150 fine.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs as well as a £32 victim surcharge.
