A Pembroke teenager has been fined for stealing alcohol from a local service station.

Eighteen-year-old Thomas Daniel Kincaid Sheehan, of Strongbow Walk, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of theft.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that around 7 pm on May 7, the defendant entered Bush Hill Service Station, went straight up to the alcohol section, and put two bottle of wine up the front of his jacket and walked out without paying.

After his arrest, in a police interview, Mr. Sheehan told officers that he didn’t remember the incident as he was drunk.

The court heard that the defendant had seven previous theft matters on record over the past three years, and that this charge predated an 18-week suspended sentence he was given earlier this month for aggravated vehicle taking.

Defence solicitor Matthew Greenish told the court that his client was working with the probation service and the Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service (DDAS) to overcome his alcohol issues.

Magistrates fined Mr. Sheehan £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay compensation of £10.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
