A Pembroke Dock man who stole nutrition and fitness supplements from a store will appear at Swansea Crown Court next month for sentencing.

Thirty-eight-year-old Robert Saunders pleaded guilty to stealing the items worth £205.20 from Tesco, when he appeared at Haverfodwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that the incident occurred on September 13, around 7 pm, when the defendant went into the Pembroke Dock store and selected the items to take.

“In a police interview, Mr. Saunders said that he had taken the most expensive items he could find, as he intended to sell them on so he could buy some Methadone and Diazepam, as his prescription had run out,” he said.

Magistrates heard how the defendant was already subject to a crown court suspended sentence order from July.

“Four days later, he committed another offence, so this latest is the second breach in a matter of weeks,” explained Mr. Pritchard-Jones, indicating that the case should be committed to crown court for sentencing.

Magistrates told Mr. Saunders, who was released on unconditional bail, that he would now have to appear at Swansea Crown Court on November 4.
