The success of the St Andrew’s recent Annual Fête and Teddy Bear Parachute Jumping was only slightly marred by the fate of four unfortunate teddies who were blown off course on to the church roof and into the ancient yew tree alongside!
However Narberth Fire and Rescue Service, led by watch manager Paul Morris, came to the rescue and in a dramatic operation went up on to the roof and then into the massive yew tree to bring them down, safe and sound and only a little battered by their experience.
Many thanks go to the brave Fire and Rescue Team (pictured).
The Fête raised over £1,000 for church funds and a good time was had by all young and not so young who attended.
The following day (Sunday, July 21) the church hosted this year’s Civic Service when Mayor, Clr. Chris Walters and members of the Town Council were present to make their pledge to the people of Narberth.
Thanks go to Clr. Walters for choosing the St Andrew’s Restoration Fund as the recipient of the collection taken during the service.
