A Monkton man caught in possession of 46 grams of cannabis and 15 tablets of MDMA has been charged in court.

Thirty-year-old Joel Williams, of Longmains, appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to the offences.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that it was the early hours of the morning on May 9, when officers saw two males standing in a street in Pembroke Dock talking, before going their separate ways.

The two men were spoken to and searched, and Mr. Williams was found to have a large amount of cash on him. A large package of drugs was located near to where the two males were standing.

Officers also discovered that the defendant was in possession of some electronic weighing scales.

The rest of the drugs were found following a search of Mr. Williams’ s home.

Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that his client smoked cannabis and occasionally used MDMA.

“He suffers from anxiety and depression and is seeking professional help from his GP,” he explained.

Magistrates fined Mr. Williams a total of £200 for both offences and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

A destruction order was also issued for the drugs.
