A Milford motorist has been banned from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle for 12 months after admitting a drug-driving charge in court.

Twenty-year-old Danielle Rendell, of Hakin, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to admit a charge of driving her silver Peugeot on Western Way, in Pembroke Dock, with a quantity of cannabis in her blood.

Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that police officers on duty pulled Miss Rendell over on October 6 of last year for a routine stop check, with a roadside test proving positive for cannabis.

Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that Miss Rendell who worked as a dog groomer was of clean character.

“She expresses her regret at what happened, she had had some family issues, and it was the first time she had used cannabis, and says she won’t be using it again,” he said.

Magistrates disqualified Miss Rendell from driving for 12 months, and fined her £120 for the offence.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
