A scrap metal dealer from Hakin is set to go on trial next month after denying charges of failing to display his licence on a vehicle and failing to record required information under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act.

Fifty-seven-year-old Stephen Phillips, of Haven Drive, denied the charges when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies explained that the charges were brought against Mr. Phillips when the Pembrokeshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, working alongside the British Transport Police, were carrying out ‘Operation Tornado’ - a scheme designed to crackdown on metal theft, in Milford Haven on April 12.

Magistrates told Mr. Phillips that he would face trial at the court on July 11, before releasing him on unconditional bail.
