A Pembroke Dock man has been fined in court after admitting possessing cannabis.
Thirty-nine-year-old Victor Daniel Busby, of Nelson Street, Pennar, pleaded guilty to possessing 0.5 grams of the drug when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers attended the defendant’s address on January 5, on an unrelated matter, and could smell ‘cannabis in the air’ at Mr. Busby’s premises.
“He told officers that he’d just been smoking a joint and handed over a mixture of cannabis and tobacco. Mr. Busby has four previous drugs matters on record between 2010 and 2016,” he added.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that it was a simple and straight forward case.
“Mr. Busby says that the cannabis helps him relax and he prefers to do that than have a drink,” he said.
Magistrates fined the defendant £100 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
