Two men involved in a disturbance outside a Pembroke Dock pub where police were called have admitted charges of being drunk and disorderly.

Thirty-four-year-old Mark Anthony Aitchison, of St Martins Road, Monkton; and twenty-three-year-old Dylan Deacon, of Laws Street, Pembroke Dock, both appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to separate charges, following the incident which occurred outside the Prince of Wales, Dimond Street on February 8.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers had been called to the premises due to a disturbance.

“Officers attended and when they arrived they saw a heated argument between a group of people.

“Police officers just wanted to calm people down, they didn’t want to arrest anybody.

The court heard that during the disturbance Mr. Aitchison who was ‘abusive and aggressive’ throughout, grabbed a police officer by their uniform.

“He held on to it and was eventually pushed against a wall by the officer. Mr. Aitchison is quite lucky only to be charged with being drunk and disorderly and not with assault of a police officer.

“He also has quite a lot of previous convictions,” continued Mr. Pritchard-Jones.

In the case of Mr. Deacon, the court heard that he had been drinking inside the pub, and was taken outside by a police officer.

“He also grabbed an officer by their uniform, so he too is lucky not to be charged with assault.

“Officers were concerned that Mr. Deacon might make an attempt to grab the taser or Pava spray that they were carrying, so the defendant was taken to the floor and handcuffed,” he added.

Magistrates fined Mr. Aitchison £116 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.

Mr. Deacon was fined £40 and also told he would have to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
