One of Narberth’s emergency services has come under fire from the town council.
As reported in last week’s Observer, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service held a dedication ceremony for a brand new £290,000 Volvo fire appliance in the town.
However, the council feels ‘snubbed’ that the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, was not invited to the event.
“It was such an honour for the town, I feel they have snubbed Narberth by not inviting the Mayor and council,” said Clr. David Norcross.
“It was a big event in the community and we have been totally disregarded,” added Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees.
“We have built up a good reputation over the years with the fire service in Narberth and a lot of people and other organisations have done a lot of good work for the brigade and it would have been nice for them to be asked too.”
After a discussion, it was agreed that a ‘strongly worded letter’ be sent to the chief fire officer asking him to investigate why the town council was not invited to the dedication.
