Tenby’s coastguard and RNLI teams were tasked on Tuesday to assist with the medevac of an injured walker on Amroth beach.

The Coastguard rescue team were paged shortly before 6 pm to a report of an injured person, and as they arrived at the scene, they were met by Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust paramedics who had also been called.

The coastguard officers and paramedics located the casualty and the paramedics administered first aid, but as the tide was coming in fast and threatening to surround the casualty, the lifeboat crew was tasked to assist in moving the casualty should the need arise before the rescue helicopter arrived.

Following the swift arrival of the Coastguard Rescue 187 helicopter, the casualty was transported on board by Coastguard officers, RNLI crew and paramedics to be flown to Withybush Hospital for further treatment.
