Pembrokeshire’s very own ‘Captain Phillips’ completed a milestone marathon on Sundaty when he took on his 500th full marathon at the Stratford Upon Avon event.
David Phillips, an accountant by trade, and member of the Pembrokeshire Harriers and the Massey Ferguson Runners in Coventry, divides his time with his family living in Penally and Warwickshire.
For the 21st consecutive time, he was running to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation Charity, with Team Phillips taking on the Stratford Shakespeare Marathon for the charity, with other runners for the charity team taking on the London Marathon, as both events fell on the same day.
It was David’s 500th full marathon, and he has chosen Stratford as he did his 100th and 300th there, and it will be his 35th Stratford out of their 38.
“I raised £13,000 bringing my total to £130,000 so getting there!” said David, who also ran with his daughter Anna.
“Then I had a huge party afterwards to celebrate my 500th marathon.”
